Our New Home

The Grand Opening at our new facility is November 12th.

The Works has grown dramatically over the past several years.  Last year, our attendance soared to over 48,000! That's nearly 20% more than the previous year!  Our new facility, with expanded hours and activities, will enable more people to experience The Works' unique hands-on activities that explore how things work and inspire an interest in engineering and innovation.

Our new public lobby with spacious store and a convenient coat room!

Our big group lobby, separate entrance from our public lobby and designed to welcome over 100 students.

Part of our exhibit floor.  The race track and beebots are waiting for you!

Another view of the exhibit floor.

Part of our new exhibit area, all about the insides of favorite toys.

More of Toys: The Inside Story.

Our Design Lab- this is where families can build, design, create, and engineer.  Available whenever The Works is open for families, the Design Lab has four changing activities for you.

Our lunchroom with seating for over 100 students. We also have multiple classrooms on our lower level for great hands-on workshops for our group visitors.

We added two new family bathrooms to our first floor. Look at that great tile pattern!

Rebecca Schatz, The Works' Founder, says "The Works' new site will allow everyone to experience the joy of building, designing, creating, and engineering.  It will help us achieve our mission: to inspire the next generation of innovators, engineers, and creative problem solvers."

"The Works will be a wonderful addition to the Bloomington community", says Gene Winstead, mayor of Bloomington.  "Kids today need these hands-on programs in science and engineering.  The benefit to the community is huge. Today's kids are tomorrow's high tech workforce. I am personally very excited about The Works and what they do."

You can help us by making a tax-deductible contribution today! As you know, The Works is a non-profit organization that depends on generous gifts to continue providing hands-on programs. We know you will love this new facility as much we do! Help us make it happen by contributing today to our Summer in Motion campaign. This campaign funds our busy summer museum activities and our planning for the big move! All gifts over $100 will be recognized in a display in the new facility.
