Family Activities

Enjoy dozens of hands-on exhibits, plus an additional hands-on activity in our classroom with your paid family admission to The Works.

Each activity takes about 15 - 20 minutes and can be done anytime from 1 - 3pm on Saturdays.

March 2010 - Circuit Play

Hook up batteries and wires to power light bulbs, motors, and more.  Discover the difference between a series circuit and a parallel circuit.  Already know the basics?  Then you're ready to tackle the Ultimate Circuit Challenge!

April 2010- Sound Sandwich

Learn about sound and vibration as you make your own wind instrument.  Then apply just a little lung power to create silly sounds.

May 2010- Clay Boats (except May 15th)

Why don't boats sink, since they are often so heavy?  Come find out for yourself at this fun hands-on activity.

May 15th is our Float Your Boat Challenge Day.  More details coming soon.

June 2010- Magnetic Bridges

Learn about magnets and bridges in this new hands-on activity.  Discover magnetic fields and polarity then build a super strong bridge using your new knowledge and some magnets.
