Build It Expo at The Works Museum
The Works Museum hosted the first-ever Build It Expo family event on Saturday, April 11, 2026 - and what an exciting day it was! The event welcomed more than 380 visitors, alongside 49 of our amazing volunteers. Professionals from construction fields and the skilled trades led hands-on activities and demonstrations that inspired kids to explore new ideas and imagine future career pathways.
Throughout the day, one of our classrooms was transformed into a giant cardboard city, complete with bridges, boats, and buildings of all kinds. Thank you to everyone who contributed their creativity to this collaborative art project! The final result was a sprawling masterpiece of architectural and civil engineering.
Outside, families enjoyed a touch-a-truck experience with crew members from the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the City of Bloomington, who brought vehicles for an up-close look at the important equipment that helps support our community every day.
Be sure to check out the event video on our YouTube page, and scroll through the photos below to see some of our favorite moments from the day.
Thank you to everyone who helped make our first-ever Build It Expo such a memorable success. We can’t wait to build together again in the future!
A special thank you to our event partners:
