She Engineers 2026
On Saturday, September 19, 2026, over 300 visitors joined us at The Works Museum for our annual She Engineers family event!
Throughout the day, families connected with STEM professionals who shared their experiences and encouraged kids to see themselves as engineers. With 90 volunteers helping make the event possible, the museum was filled with opportunities for kids and families to build and discover together.
She Engineers Breakfast
This year, we started off event day with the first-ever She Engineers Breakfast, bringing kids and families together with members of our Host Committee, comprised of women engineers and STEM professionals. Breakfast guests also heard from Claire Deitz, Education and Outreach Coordinator for the Minnesota Nano Center, about how her love for bees inspired her career in STEM.
This dedicated time to hear about a STEM career journey, and sit with STEM role models gave families the opportunity to ask questions and make real-world career connections. Guests then received first access to the full day of She Engineers activities, continuing the morning with hands-on engineering challenges and more opportunities to learn.
All proceeds from the breakfast support The Works Museum’s She Engineers initiative, which works to increase participation of girls and gender-expansive youth in STEM. We are grateful to everyone who joined us for this new experience and to the IF/THEN® Champions Network, ASTC, and the National Girls Collaborative Project for supporting the She Engineers Breakfast.
Identibeads
At the event, each partner table held a sign that connected an engineering skill to their hands-on activity.
After exploring each activity, kids were invited to create their own IDENTI-BEADS bracelet. Using colors that represented the engineering skills that resonated most, each bracelet became a personal reflection of the strengths participants already possess and the new skills developed through each challenge.
The activity encouraged kids to reflect on their learning throughout the event and reinforced the message that everyone engineers.
She Engineers is part of our ongoing effort to increase the participation of girls and gender-expansive youth in STEM. The event welcomed participants of all genders and created opportunities for kids and families to see that there are many different ways to engineer.
