STEM Day at the Capitol
On April 15, 2026, we had the opportunity to join partners from across the state at STEM Day at the Capitol, sharing the power of hands-on, career-connected learning with legislators, industry representatives, educators, and community members. Hosted by the Minnesota STEM Ecosystem and SciMathMN, the day was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we come together to advocate for STEM education in Minnesota.
At our table, The Works Museum showcased our Career Connections initiative in partnership with the University of Minnesota Nano Center. Together, we gave attendees a firsthand look at how students engage with STEM through hands-on activities tied to real-world careers.
One of the highlights of the day was having elementary students help lead the experience. They demonstrated the types of activities we use in our camps and programs - showing problem-solving, experimenting, and making connections to real STEM pathways.
Throughout the afternoon, we had meaningful conversations with policymakers and partners about expanding access to these kinds of experiences, especially for students who may not otherwise have exposure to STEM enrichment opportunities. It was energizing to share not only what we’re doing today, but where we’re headed next as we bring Career Connections to more schools across Minnesota.
A huge thank you to the Minnesota STEM Ecosystem and SciMathMN for bringing this community together and creating space for these important conversations. We’re grateful to be part of a statewide effort to make STEM learning more accessible, relevant, and inspiring for all students.
