Celebrating Summer Camp Season Halfway Point
It's hard to believe we're already halfway through summer camp season at The Works Museum! Over the past several weeks, hundreds of young engineers have spent their summer designing, building, testing, and creating while exploring the exciting world of engineering through hands-on projects.
Every week has brought new challenges, new discoveries, and plenty of opportunities for campers to think creatively and solve problems. Whether they were building towering LEGO skyscrapers, coding robots, designing miniature golf courses, or constructing houses complete with working electrical circuits, campers embraced the engineering design process by imagining ideas, testing them, making improvements, and trying again.
Throughout the summer, campers explored everything from architecture and animation to superheroes, amusement parks, robotics, and simple machines. They designed stop-motion animations, engineered catapults and rescue devices, built marble roller coasters, experimented with magnets and circuitry, and discovered how engineering can be found in nearly everything around us. Most importantly, they learned that there is often more than one solution to a problem - and that persistence and creativity go hand in hand.
Through a partnership with the Minnesota Children's Museum, we bring many of our favorite engineering camps from The Works Museum to their St. Paul location each summer. Offering camps at an additional location allows us to reach more families across the Twin Cities while continuing our mission to inspire the next generation of innovators, engineers, and creative problem-solvers.

While every camp had its own unique theme, they all shared something in common: campers asked thoughtful questions, worked together, persevered through challenges, and took pride in what they created. From first ideas to finished projects, it has been inspiring to watch young engineers gain new skills and confidence throughout the summer.
We're incredibly grateful to all of the families who chose to spend part of their summer with us. We can't wait to see what our campers accomplish during the second half of the season as even more young engineers join us for four-day and one-day camp sessions filled with hands-on STEM fun.
