Community Outreach: Summer Fun

June has been a busy month for community outreach! We had an incredible time engineering with kids and families at Stone Arch Bridge Festival, as well as the Bloomington Juneteenth Celebration.

At the Stone Arch Bridge Festival, SciMathMN and The Works Museum were proud to partner on a hands-on STEM Activity Zone that engaged children and families in engineering, design, problem-solving, and exploration while showcasing the many STEM pathways and careers available right here in Minnesota.

A special thank you to our partners, Emerson, Andersen Windows & Doors, Banner Engineering, and KLJ Engineering for supporting this important community outreach effort and helping us inspire the next generation of innovators.

We're also deeply grateful to the amazing volunteers who shared their time, expertise, and enthusiasm with festival attendees. Thank you to partners and volunteers from MATHHAPPENS Foundation, the Pavek Museum of Electronic Communication, Upper Story LLC, Medtronic, Collins Aerospace, Xcel Energy, Science Museum of Minnesota, TKDA, Burns & McDonnell, Cummins Inc., the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), SparkPath, and the University of Minnesota's Graduate Women in Biomedical Engineering for helping young people and their families discover the breadth of STEM opportunities across our state.

Together, we're helping Minnesota's future innovators see what's possible!

At the Bloomington Juneteenth Celebration, kids and families engineered ring gliders with us and built towers using Wedgits. It was so much fun watching young engineers put the engineering design process into action - designing, testing, redesigning, and trying again with creativity and persistence.

Thank you to the volunteers who helped run activities at our booth, to the families who stopped by to engineer with us, and to everyone who helped this wonderful community celebration come to be. We had a blast and loved seeing so many families exploring and creating together!
